Manchester United play Championship side Luton FC in the 4th Round of the Carabao Cup. Moreover,United suffered a nasty loss against Crystal palace and would prefer to get some momentum early in the season. Management Concerns are a very problematic issue for the club. Further, it looks like they are only going to get worse. Patrice Evra said some harsh words on his Instagram and they look to be quite true. Looking forward to the Carabao Cup clash, @luton.town.1885, a Luton Town FC fanpage shares his opinion on the same.
1.What are your thoughts going into the game
I think it’s good for a smaller club like us to play Man United. I’m not expecting much from the game but I do think some of our players like Cornick Collins and Lua Lua have the attacking quality to get us a goal or two. It’s annoying that the fans can’t attend the game as this is the sort of game the atmosphere would be mental and would affect our performance as we have seen last season. It’s just amazing that our club has the opportunity to play against one of the most successful clubs in world football and most Luton fans will agree that this is incredible we are in the position we are considering we were in non-league only five or so years before.
2.Do you think Luton Town has the capability to stun Manchester United?
Depends on many things. If you put out a strong side or not, the attitude the players have to the game. We definitely have players who have quality but realistically Glen Rea won’t pocket Paul Pogba. It has happened before in the EFL cup where big teams knock out small teams. I don’t think there is a fraction of a chance we will win.
3.Luton have started the season with great momentum, Do you think the you can keep it going?
We have lost few games since NJ has become our manager so I’m always confident. I think we need to at least continue our winning streak for a few more games to have a good season as we failed to do that last season consequently leaving us in a relegation scrap. We have been playing very good football so far so I think we are capable of continuing this good run of form.
4.How do you think Luton’s attack can take advantage of the defensive vulnerabilities?
As I have said we have some decent attacking options. I think Lua Lua will be a problem when the ball is played to his feat as he is very good on the ball. James Collins can finish well, if given enough space will punish any team. Cornick has rapid pace and is very creative down the wing. Yet I think United have a much better defence than any Championship team. I think it will be very hard to break it down.
5.Tell us something about Luton Town FC that most people don’t know?
We were relegated from Division 1, the year it was rebranded to the Premier League. Since we have had financial issues behind the scenes, and have only just recovered a decade later. I guess another fact is that we’ve had some decent players at our club like Max Aarons, James Justin and even had Sancho on trial. On the Contrary in the 1990s we had probably one of the best players to ever grace the English leagues… Chris Kamara.
6.Where do you think Luton Town can reach this season?
I don’t know as I was expecting a relegation scrap like last season, but seeing that we have had a 100% record since that 5-0 game against Reading last season. I think that it comes down to these opening few games. If we can pick up some more early wins,I would say mid-table but in reality I’m not expecting anything higher than 18th.
7.How important is the Carabao Cup campaign for Luton Town
I think it’s very important as we are a very poor club in terms of the position we are in. We had the 7th highest budget in league 1, if that puts it into perspective, a cup run in a competition like this would be huge for our club, as it would fund our new stadium as well as players. Moreover, we get to play against big teams like yours so it’s just great for our team to have this opportunity.
8.Any particular words for United Fans?
I respect your fans and would have loved to see your famous away support come to Kenilworth road. I rate your loyal fans and wish you lot the best of luck for this season.
