Manchester United extended their unbeaten run to 15 games by destroying Brighton 3-0 at home. United displayed a complete team effort where every player contributed to the end result. For majority of the game, United dominated possession and attack. Only in the second half did Brighton showed any intend to score one back.
A match which had lots of positives for us to take, let us talk about some major highlights from the game :
David de Gea replied to all his critics last night by producing some mind blowing saves. He had been under the radar after his poor effort to stop Steven Bergwijn’s goal against Tottenham Hotspur. Even club legend Roy Keane was furious about de Gea and wanted him to not be included in the team bus post match.
To all this, de Gea gave an apt reply by saving several shots by Brighton later on in the second half. For almost all of the first half, de Gea had literally nothing to do. But in the second half, with the inclusion of Maupay and Trossard, Brighton started creating lot of chances. But de Gea denied all those shots by Trossard and Maupay to keep a well deserved clean sheet.
Solid at the back
The United defence again put on a solid display yesterday night. Maguire and Lindelof looked very comfortable and calm. Though Brighton managed to create several chances in the back end of the game, United did manage to keep the clean sheet.
Full backs, Luke Shaw and Wan Bissaka also had a great game. Both of them covered defence as well as attack. In addition, Wan Bissaka also had an assist to his name. And he had a better attacking game rather than his usual contribution in defence. He created several chances up front, and looked really comfortable going forward.
Nemanja Matic was again at his best. Brilliant game distribution and passing. After every game, Matic is proving to be very valuable in our line up in that defensive midfield position.

After every game these two play together, the understanding and combination between them looks more and more visible. The duo dictated our midfield today creating chances and spreading play to both flanks.
Bruno scored his first goal with a Paul Pogba assist. And the two combined together several times throughout the match to create openings through the Brighton defence.
Our 19-year-old wonderkid Mason Greenwood had a game to remember. The winger looked lively throughout the match and was involved in two of the three goals. He scored one himself off a Wan Bissaka assis and later on in the second half, provided an assist to Bruno for the third goal. The third goal showed how good United are on counter attacks with immense pace upfront.
Despite being in constant competition with James, Greenwood fitted fantastically back into the team as he opened the scoring. He calmly slotted the ball into the net, through Dunk’s legs and past Ryan. This was the first goal of the game and was scored in the 17th minute.
United had an incredible game with yet another 3-0 win in the league. However, this time rather than Martial stealing the spotlight, it was a combination of Greenwood and Fernandes who ran the show.
In general, United’s attack including Greenwood looked spot on except for Martial who had an off day. The Frenchman was rarely seen in attack but it wouldn’t be a concern for Ole as Martial has always been like this. And the only thing he has lacked is consistency.
