Preview: Chelsea vs Manchester United

Martial against Chelsea

Manchester United faces a threatening Chelsea side on Sunday in the FA Cup semi-finals at the Wembley. The FA cup could be a golden opportunity for either of the sides to earn a trophy this season. The trophy would give the teams a morale boost as well.

Ole’s boys play this fixture after a gruesome Away victory against Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The squad will face Chelsea just 3 days after traveling to Selhurst Park. This week they travel back to London to play the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The match will be an exciting game to watch despite the full-time result as Chelsea and Manchester United boast young sides playing attacking football with a positive mentality

Team News

Manchester United

Manchester United had just begun finding their perfect XI but injury scares may make a detrimental impact. United’s squad depth is a matter of concern as fans are worried after injuries to Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams. Ole has confirmed that Luke Shaw would be unavailable against Chelsea. On the other hand, Brandon Williams may be available after he trains today. Fosu-Mensah played at Left back but he left fans unimpressed after losing the ball too often.

“The team is not selected yet and that goes for Jesse and Sergio they have got a good chance of being involved. I don’t think Luke’s gonna make it no, he’ll be out. Brandon will hopefully be able to train today and be available.”

Chelsea

Lampard claimed in his press conference that N’Golo Kante will stay unavailable for the Sunday fixture against United. Chelsea otherwise face no injuries. Though the Blue Lions face Liverpool after their FA cup fixture and hence they would like to rotate the squad to ensure they do not miss out on top 4 opportunities. Chelsea would like to play a starting XI with a mix of youth and first-team members. This will enable them to be able to play both games with much more ease. It remains to be seen how Lampard sets his team up.

Predictions

Manchester United looked like a strong squad but injuries may cause havoc in the defensive line. United would prefer to win this game so they can go on to the FA Cup final. Ole previously mentioned that United must aim for a trophy and the FA cup is a genuine chance.

Chelsea may also have a similar ambition to win the FA cup especially with such a wonderful squad bolstered by the signing of Ziyech and Werner. Frank Lampard has struggled to tactically set up his team well enough against United but then Chelsea may give United a surprise. Either squad would not miss the chance to play move to the Final at Wembley.

We believe that the game would go on to be a 3-2 Victory for Manchester United with a Injury time Winner. This would end thing in classic style. Chelsea are expected to try to attack and score as much as possible
