Preview: Crystal Palace Vs Manchester United

Manchester United take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Thursday Night. As the battle for top 4 boils down to the remaining three match-weeks it will be a crucial fixture for the Reds.

Manchester United drew against Southampton in the previous game week. The draw came as frustrating news for the fans as Man United failed to capitalize on another opportunity to enter the Top 3.

It’s a no-brainer that Manchester United want that Champion League Spot. It’s going to be a battle of mentality and United’s ability to bounce back. Man Utd have found there fine winning form since Project Restart. This was also suggested by Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of his Pre-match Conference.

Team News

Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provided injury updates in his Pre-match Press Conference today in which he said,

“Luke has got a swollen ankle, I’ll give him as much time as possible to recover, it was a twisted ankle, Brandon cut up his eye, I don’t really know, none of them trained yesterday.”

Luke shaw had to be taken off at 75th minute following an ankle injury

Mason Greenwood is another player who might not be in the starting lineup. He was the recipient of a nasty challenge by Oriol Romeu and is not fully fit. Ole did praise the striker for his recent form in the pre-match conference.

“It’s great when you’re a striker scoring goals, on top of your game, fit & strong. Mason [Greenwood] has come into the frame and not looked back since restart and fantastic to see them on training ground. It’s ‘is he in better position or am I able to finish?’.”

All the other players are reportedly fit but there might be a couple of fresh legs coming in as indicated by Ole.

Crystal Palace

Villa’s survival hopes received a huge boost as a brace from Trezeguet saw Crystal Palace lose 2-0.

Palace is the only other team to lose their last 5 games, the other team being already relegated, Norwich .

The Eagles are mathematically safe but are ending the season on a sour note, and Palace have now dropped down to 14th place in the table following their barren run over the past few weeks.

Previous Meeting

Manchester United 1 – 2 Crystal Palace

Manchester United Lost in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford on 24 August 2019 in which they lost 1-2.

Daniel James’s late equaliser was left of no value as Patrick van Aanholt scored a 90+3 minute winner as Crystal Palace earned a shocking win over Manchester United.

Jordan Ayew won the man of the match award in the fixture played between the two sides in the 1st half of the season.

Ole’s men would be motivated to continue their brilliant post-lockdown form. As United look for a win in what would be deemed as essential 3 points away from home. Further, it will be crucial in the three-way Race for the remaining 2 Champion League spots.

We predict a 4-0 Manchester United victory, as Crystal Palace have always looked vulnerable on counter attacks.

Crystal Palace have only registered a 0.86 average goals scored per match in the premier league this season.

To add to this, Crystal Palace have lost all of their last 5 premier league matches.
